Thank you very much Peter. … Sandra B I was photographed for Peter Bruce’s “B for a Cure” project and was impressed by his warmth, the ability to put people at ease in a potentially uncomfortable situation, and the quality of his work. I’m a professional glamour photographer myself, and was drawn by the cause to become a model for Peter, this one time :-). In the course of my 15 year career, I’ve dealt with hundreds upon hundreds of models, and have heard of their experiences with other photographers too. The main compliment to me and other photographers was always “He/she made me feel so comfortable and the photo shoot was fun!”, followed by “Wow, amazing pictures!”. The main complaints were always the opposite “He/She was aggressive, demanding and made me nervous”. Peter has both of the main elements that make a great people photographer - wonderful “bedside manners” and a genuine talent. If I were in the least nervous (I wasn’t - I’m a scandalous tramp), he’d have surely put me at ease. Once in the shoot, he was quick to size up what works for my physical type, and gently suggest a few best poses. It was very obvious that he’s been doing this for a long time, doing it well, and that he loves his work. Afterwards, he showed me the results. While not necessary, this was appreciated and a nice touch. If I can ever afford a wedding photographer (and a wedding), he’d be one of the first ones I’d look up. By the way, you might have noticed that there are quite a few reviews in a short period of time again. No, he didn’t write these himself - I and many of his other models are on the mailing list, and I’ve just got an emailed encouragement to write our opinion of him on Yelp. Peter is great at candids and caputuring the emotions of the event. I just got my photos today and they are without a doubt beautiful! Funny story about our wedding…. I had been working with Peter for nearly a year prior to our wedding. Our wedding was at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral Basilica in San Jose with the reception at the Fairmont in San Jose. The day of our wedding Peter was at the Fairmont in SAN FRANCISCO and when he called me to tell me he had arrived, I was wondering why he wasn’t knocking on the hotel room door. I was deeply disappointed that Peter and I had the mixup as far as locations, and I just didn’t know how he would get to the wedding on time. Sadly, it was also one of the few days in October that was actually raining. I was at a loss since he was the only photographer I hired for the event. Not wanting to give up, Peter talked to my bridesmaids/MOH who gave him directions. Peter (who had gotten dropped off at the Fairmont in SF) had no car, in the rain, and the wedding was in San Jose about to start within one hour. This is how deticated Peter is to his job. He somehow rented a car, got himself to the Fairmont in San Jose depsite the rain JUST IN TIME as I was getting into the limo to head to the Cathedral. It was a miracle but somehow Peter pulled it off. He also took great pictures at the church and reception. I wish I had pre-photos done with my parents and bridal party but we had many photos from personal cameras that captured the moments. I also like to work with you on the whole process, from what shots you want and don’t want, to the best timeline for you during the day, right though to picking out your album color. Fourth, I don’t charge extra for black & white or sepia toning. I don’t push albums or other items that can add expense to photography costs. Fifth, I always have back up equipment and staff on hand along with insurance. Sixth, I am the one who will shoot your wedding, not my assistants. This is extremely important – you should get the photographer whose work you have seen, not their assistant-in-training. If an assistant is needed to help with film, camera backs, staging, etc, I will bring one at no additional charge to you. And finally, I like to shoot on FILM. I do understand the importance of having a digital file, so what I like to do is shoot on film, scan the negatives and give you everything! Prints, negatives and unlocked DVDs to use however you wish. There is no extra charge and no lengthy waiting period. Why FILM you ask? The reason is simple – the images are vastly better than digital. Please don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I am happy to shoot digitally for you if that is what you truly want, and also would be very happy to discuss the pros & cons of both. But as I tell all the couples who ask, the reason Hollywood still shoots movies on film is it is BETTER! With all that, your whole wedding should cost about $2,500 - $2,900 to shoot.
